Great with highlights!
Joined Atelier: October 2007
Education: Bachelor of the Arts in Dance and a minor in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University. Cosmetology at Carsten Institute, an Aveda Concept School in New York City.
Special training or certifications: redCHOCOLATE certified hair colorist, Keratin Complex Smoothing System, Atelier Education Director.
Hometown: I was born and raised in San Jose. I moved to Los Angeles to attend Loyola Marymount and lived there for three years. I lived in New York City for a year while I attended cosmetology school.
Why I became a stylist? Because I have always loved hair. I was the girl who came to school every day with her hair perfect or possibly in an updo. I was also the friend who did everyone’s hair for prom. More than just loving hair, I remember my own feelings after leaving the hair salon after getting my hair done. This feeling wasn’t just about hair, it was about feeling taken care of. It is about connecting with people and making them feel beautiful inside and out.
My best professional moment: Would have to be seeing up-and-coming stylists who I have helped train and educate become amazing stylists! I also love when my guests refer their family and friends to me. A referral is one of the highest compliments a stylist can receive.
Other hobbies and talents: I have danced my whole life, and I will always refer to ballet as my first love. I also have been running for a long time. I only started running organized races in 2010. Since then, have run countless half marathons and four full marathons. My 26.2 mile adventures include the Nike Women’s Marathon 2011, Nike Women’s Marathon 2012, Big Sur International Marathon 2013, and Surfer’s Path Marathon 2013.
Secret passion? I love fantasy football! I also LOVE the 49ers!
Who is your professional role model? My professional role model isn’t anyone in the cosmetology industry. It is actually my grandfather. He always showed me the importance of hard work and perseverance. He had a dream to be financially independent when he was very young. In order to reach his dream, he held every job you could imagine. He created his future himself and helped people along the way. He helped me to become the person I am today. He has shaped the way I look at the world.
